According to UBI Research, smartphone OLED panel shipments by major OLED panel makers reached 190 million units in the first quarter of 2026. This represents a 12% decrease compared with the first quarter of 2025 and a 20% decline from the previous quarter. While the market entered the off-season after the year-end peak season, production adjustments by set makers amid rising memory prices are also believed to have affected the shipment decline among Chinese panel makers. By company, Samsung Display maintained its leading position with a 44.4% share in the first quarter of 2026. This was higher than its 42.8% share in the first quarter of 2025. Although its shipment volume declined year-on-year, Samsung Display continued to maintain market leadership with a share in the mid-40% range. LG Display recorded a 9.0% share in the first quarter of 2026, up from 7.6% in the first quarter of 2025. Its shipments decreased quarter-on-quarter due to seasonal factors, but showed a stable trend on a year-on-year basis. LG Display is also expected to maintain solid momentum for the full year. Although some smartphone makers are adjusting their production plans due to rising memory prices, LG Display’s iPhone panel shipments in 2026 are projected to increase compared with the previous year. Chinese panel makers are facing growing pressure to adjust shipments, although the degree varies by company. BOE recorded a 16.3% share in the first quarter of 2026, maintaining the largest share among Chinese panel makers. Visionox posted a 10.7% share in the first quarter of 2026, up from 9.3% in the first quarter of 2025. In contrast, Tianma and TCL CSOT showed relatively larger shipment declines. Tianma’s share fell from 12.1% in the first quarter of 2025 to 9.0% in the first quarter of 2026, while TCL CSOT’s share declined from 9.8% to 7.8% over the same period. A comparison between Korean and Chinese panel makers shows a clearer difference in the scale of the decline. In the first quarter of 2026, combined smartphone OLED panel shipments by Korean panel makers Samsung Display and LG Display decreased by around 7% year-on-year. By contrast, combined shipments by major Chinese panel makers, including BOE, TCL CSOT, Tianma, and Visionox, declined by around 17%. In terms of shipment volume decline, the decrease among Chinese panel makers was more than twice as large as that of Korean panel makers. This indicates that production adjustments by Chinese smartphone makers amid rising memory prices are being reflected more strongly in the shipments of Chinese panel makers.
